It's better to buy unlocked phones

Author: marvin

I remember when it was my first to purchase a phone. I was so excited and full of enthusiasm to go to the malls and looked for the best one that will fit my budget. It took me four days to find the best phone that will satisfy my craving. Of course I was still young then that's why I was accompanied by my mom in those four days of going in and out of different cellphone stores. She became annoyed, yes, but I knew she understood why I acted that way—because it was my first time and she felt my excitement and she doesn't want to spoil the moment.

Thanks to her I found the most out of this world phone from one of the leading cellphone store in our place. Yes, it's out of this world because I think it's unique and I never saw that model before with the people in the streets, malls and other public places. I grabbed the phone as soon as I saw without asking the different applications, features, its capabilities; it's down side, etc. The only thing in my mind that time was, that was my first phone and it should be so unique that my friends will get envy when they saw it, hooray!

When we got home, I am more excited to assemble it and used it for the very first time. Oh my goodness! I finally have my own phone. I can now text my friends and I will not be anymore alienated with my other classmates who do have their own piece. I am one of those few who have the cellphone in class, and I should be proud of that.

I used the phone almost every day, every hour, and every minute. I text, play, discover other applications. There's camera phones back then but the phone that I had was the one everyone on my age wanted to have. I was amazing.

I remember also having that irritating PUK. My phone suddenly cannot be opened because of that silly program. I was so sad because all the texts that I saved for the past months were suddenly disappeared, Il be starting from scratch again, I told myself.

When I finally admit the truth that it not be revived again, I decided to shift to another network because I thought that time that it will be better to do that. That's the time I discovered that my phone was locked to only one network. I was devastated. I asked my parents why it was like that. Then they explained to me that locked phone will only recognize a SIM card from a particular carrier. If the cell phone is unlocked, it will recognize a SIM card from any carrier. The "lock" is software setting that keeps the cell phone "loyal" to one carrier.

After knowing that, I sold my phone to buy unlocked cell phone. Another silly idea just to replace and shift to another network. It was funny when you look back in to it, but I treasure those moments of my life. Well there's nothing wrong with what I did, after all buying unlocked phone is a great idea for it will give you freedom to choose a network and you can shift from one network to another or have different network in just one phone. Amazing!
